Situated in Odemira, a city of Alentejo region, this plot of land, takes shape by two accentuated hills next to each other, where four existent buildings land along the site. The proposal for a residence embrace the existent buildings, resulting in the main house on the higher level, the pool at the next existent building, and further down hill, two annexes that shelts guest houses.

As this region of Portugal is marked by an intense summer, the main house was inserted towards downhill on the site, in a way that its backside was halfway buried, and its front with the common areas opened to the view of Alentejo. The house is marked by big front porches (Alpendres), typical element in warm regions, sheltering the common areas and being a space to be, to gather, to contemplate, and to feel the breeze of Alentejo; under the shadow.

Alpendres: Typical architectonical element witch is a kind of front porch, used in warm regions to protect the house from the direct sun, it´s a space of transition of the indoor and outdoor spaces.
